Pricing and Quotes

What does it cost to clear a blocked drain?

There's no set figure, because depth, access and the cause all move the price. What you do get is a fixed upfront price agreed before any work begins, so the number on the quote is the number you pay.

Do you charge by the hour?

No. Hourly rate guesswork is exactly what we avoid, so the plumber finds the cause, explains the fix and agrees one price with you first. If the job runs long, that's our problem, not an extra on your bill.

How is the price worked out before work starts?

The plumber locates the blockage, works out what clearing or repairing it will take, and talks you through it. Only once you've agreed to the fixed price does anyone pick up a tool.

How do I pay on the day?

Once the drain is running freely and you've seen the result, you pay by card or EFTPOS on the spot. No need to chase invoices or have cash set aside.

Booking and Timing

Call (07) 3067 4271

How quickly can someone come out?

Ring us early in the day and we can generally get a plumber out to you that same day. It depends on the day's bookings, so ring (07) 3067 4271 early and describe what's happening.

What should I have ready when I call?

Note which fixtures drain slowly, how long the problem has been building and if water is pooling in the yard. Those few details let the plumber turn up with the correct gear and quote accurately.

Which areas do you cover besides Deagon?

The regular round covers Sandgate, Boondall, Taigum, Fitzgibbon and Bracken Ridge, and each suburb gets a dedicated page of drain notes. See the Bracken Ridge page as an example.

Are you part of a franchise?

No, this is a locally owned and operated plumbing and drainage business, not a franchise. The about page explains how the work is run and who carries out each job.

Services Explained

Call (07) 3067 4271

What drain work do you actually handle?

Everything to do with drains: choked toilets, sewer lines, stormwater pits, fixture drain cleaning, camera inspections and pipe repairs. The drain services page lists each one and links to its own page.

When is a camera inspection worth doing?

When a drain blocks again after clearing, or before any repair, a CCTV inspection shows the crack, sag or root ball causing it. Guessing costs more than looking.

Is relining an option for broken pipes?

Sometimes. On drain repairs the plumber weighs dig-and-replace against relining based on where the pipe runs and what damaged it, then prices both so you can choose.

What if the blockage sits in the street main?

The sewer main under the road belongs to Urban Utilities, so a fault there is theirs to fix. We clear everything on your side of the boundary and tell you honestly where the trouble sits.

Local Drain Conditions

Why do drains in this suburb block so often?

The ground is flat and wet, much of the housing runs on old earthenware pipe, and the high water table pushes silt into low joints. Put together, blockages repeat unless the underlying cause is found.

Does the wet season make drain trouble worse?

It does. Around 1,064 millimetres of rain falls here in an average year, and on flat creek-side ground that water finds every low pit and slow joint. Pre-storm clearing of yard drains is worth doing each year.

Do tree roots really get into drains here?

They do. Roots travel from tea-tree woodland beside the wetlands and from the big street trees at the racecourse towards ageing drains, with fine root hairs snagging on each offset joint of old clay pipe.

Does flooding affect household drains?

Homes here needed rescuing in the 2010 flood, and council mapping shows creek flood and storm-tide zones over many streets. When the creek is up, stormwater has little fall to clear a pit, so yard drains back up.
